Yamazaki is located at the foot of Mount Tenno, southwest of Kyoto. The area surrounding the distillery has long been renowned for its fine natural waters, and was even mentioned in the Manyoshu, an ancient Japanese poetry anthology. Yamazaki’s whisky production is known for its wide variety, which is unique worldwide. Once matured in the barrels, the various whiskies are sent to the whisky master blender. The master blender evaluates the maturity of the whiskies in each barrel and carefully selects and determines the best combination of whiskies to create a final product with the right characteristics. They taste up to two or three hundred whiskies a day and predict when each barrel will reach its best condition and when to use it.

The Yamazaki Whisky is Suntory’s flagship single malt whisky, from Japan’s first and oldest malt distillery. With a range of options from Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve to 12, 18, and 25 years old, all of these prized whiskies contain carefully blended components aged in American, Spanish, and Japanese Mizunara oak.
